Hopefully you all can take the time to come out.<br /><br />We just got done tonight doing a radio show on Radio Sweetheart on WCRD 91.3. The show went great and we had some real positive feedback online. This is just part of an effort on our part to make some headlines in the next few days leading up to the Rally.<br /><br />The ALIVE Rally is part of the vision we began to set forth last semester. We want to engage our campus in a discussion about the ramifications of suicide and the real mess depression is creating in our society and the lives of the ones we hold dear.<br /><br />The Rally is a chance to start that discussion, but its not the only part of the discussion. This is something we hope will be ongoing until real solutions begin to present themselves and real actions can be taken. We want to see a positive change, not just in the way the media discusses the topic (when it discusses it at all) but in the way people live their day to day lives.<br /><br />The Rally is a chance for us to stand up and tell our society we've had enough. We've had enough of you avoiding the topic. We've had enough of making those who suffer from depression the butt of your jokes and the people you whisper about in dark corners. We're tired of you not being there for the ones who are quietly falling apart alone in the corner of the room wondering when you will notice their agony.<br /><br />Depression isn't fair. For those who struggle to overcome its lows it is a nightmare locked in a house of horrors that they somehow survive, day after day. For those who support those struggling, its a constant worry that doesn't go away. But those who share a smile, a hug, a happy thought or a laugh with someone whose burden is heavy, they are blessed in a way they never knew was possible.<br /><br />The Rally is a chance for everyone in this struggle of life to come together.
